On Friday, the Solvay ice hockey team made it back-to-back wins when it came back to the Coliseum and needed some late heroics from Tim Burgess to beat Fulton 5-3.
With that victory, the Bearcats inched closer to clinching second place in Division II West and a home game for the upcoming sectional playoffs.
Despite being out of the post-season picture, the Red Raiders hung close throughout the night, only trailing 2-1 after two periods as Ginestro and Steve Adams both got on the board to keep Solvay in front.
Then Burgess put together a natural hat trick in the third period, his three goals fending off everything Fulton could put up.
Josh Ginestro, Ryan Chapman, Nick Downs, Alex Tripp and Len Graf all got assists, with goaltender Ryan Bonk earning 20 saves in the net.
Solvay will get one more shot at newly-crowned league champion Corcoran Wednesday night at Meachem Rink before the Sunday announcement of the Division II playoff pairings. Given the fact that Skaneateles has winnable home games left against Ontario Bay and Fulton, the Bearcats might need to win this game to get that home playoff date.
