Matthew M. Chiles, 22, of 4865 North St. in Jamesville, was arrested today Feb. 7 for grand larceny in the fourth degree.
On Feb. 6, Chiles approached the counter at the M&T Bank located in the Jamesville Town Square on East Seneca Turnpike and took off with proceeds from a deposit that had just been made from a previous customer. He then fled the bank on foot.
DeWitt Police became aware of Chiles involvement after conducting numerous interviews which included the person who provided transportation to and from the scene.
Detectives and officers were led to locations where evidence of the crime was disposed of. A portion of the proceeds were recovered.
Chiles was remanded to the Justice Center with no bail by East Syracuse Village Justice Benack. Chiles is presently on parole from the state of Kansas.
