Trying to build up momentum before its return to the Section III Division I playoffs, the Baldwinsville ice hockey team face a huge test Friday night when fast-charging Ithaca comes to Lysander Arena.
Prior to that, the Bees visited Auburn Tuesday night and handled the Maroons in every phase of the game on its way to a 6-0 shutout victory.
On the defensive side, B’ville proved physical and consistent, keeping Auburn from too many organized attacks and protecting Nick Leader, who only had to make 18 saves.
Meanwhile, a three-goal first period set the tone for B’ville’s well-balanced attack. Chris Newman, with a goal and two assists, served as the anchor as Pat Briggs scored twice. Sean Larkin, Adam Mohr and Connor Bertrand also took turns getting goals as Mike Lloyd, Nick Gaworecki and Chris Reiser earned assists.
