Finding some success on Friday night, the East Syracuse-Minoa girls basketball team hosted Fowler and dominated all the way through a 72-45 victory over the Falcons.
Steadily, ESM worked its way to a 34-15 halftime advantage and just kept on going as eight different players earned at least two field goals.
Becky Teschler and Olivia Luciani led the charge, with 15 points apiece. Arnes Mesic also broke into double figures with 12 points. Carissa Ficarro earned nine points as Alex Cassella earned seven points and Mallory Buckley got six points. Fowler’s Sabria Washington, with 27 points, accounted for most of her team’s offense.
The Spartans (7-8) play back-to-back road games at Cato-Meridian and Fulton this week as J-D takes its shot at Mexico on Friday.
On the boys side, when ESM played at Fowler on Friday, took a 71-47 loss to the Falcons.
Fowler bolted out to a 25-10 first-quarter lead and never got caught, as Ron Monroe led his side with 25 points. ESM saw Ken Cannon earn 13 points, Quadear Mike earn 10 points and Greg Raab finish with eight points. The Spartans (3-13) are home Friday to face Fulton.
