The Great Swamp Conservancy nature center will host its annual Fall Migration Festival Sept. 13 and 14.
Featured both days will be Small World Exotic Animals, who is expected to bring a wallaby; wagon rides to the Anne V. Pickard Overlook; trail hikes; a children’s nature area.
A bob white quail program and release is scheduled for 1 p.m.
On Saturday Sept. 13, Woodcreek Reptiles will be on site all day. At noon, local author Jane Clark will hold a reading and book signing of her children’s book “Timothy Too,” a story about a turtle and his mom.
At 12:30 p.m., Janet Allen will present “The Buzz About Bees,” a PowerPoint presentation.
At 1 p.m., visitors will be invited to help with the quail release on GSC property.
At 1:15 p.m., Climate Change Action Group will host “Is This Climate Story True?”
At 2 p.m., visitors can learn what people can do to help save the Monarch butterfly.
At 3 p.m., Sharon and Owen Brown, founders of Beavers: Wetlands & Wildlife in Dolgeville, will present “Meet the Beaver,” a program targeting children and adults.
On Sunday Sept. 14, the line-up includes Manlius wildlife rehabilitator Cindy Page, who will educate visitors with her Birds of Prey live bird show.
Members of the Cornell University Undergraduate Naturalist Speakers Bureau will present a children’s program on “Birds.”
Also planned are performances by Mama Pajama and Synenergy, and a second quail release is planned.
The Great Swamp Conservancy is located on North Main Street at Pine Ridge Road in the town of Lenox, five minutes north of the village of Canastota.
