Marking Marcellus’ official start of summer, the Olde Homes Days offers a time for socialization as well as the chance to enjoy and show off the Marcellus community.
This year’s Olde Home Days looks to be a fun-filled weekend and a great opportunity to recognize local businesses and organizations.
Two important community organizations in particular will be highlighted this year. The Marcellus Free Library and the Marcellus Historical Society will be showing off their new homes– the Historical Society moved into the Steadman House in Sept. 2007 and the Library moved to its new building just this spring. Both will hold open houses on Saturday.
Also, the event will honor the Marcellus Grange, celebrating its 125th anniversary.
As always, the Olde Home Days features crafts, food and music. This year’s highlights include music by New Day, Letezia, Joe Whiting and the Marcellus High School Jazz Band. Playland will also be offering two-for-one rides on Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Saturday at 3 p.m. will be the parade with Master of Ceremonies Glen “Gomez” Adams and Grand Marshals Bruce and Mary Widger.
A favorite event, the Duck Race is happening on Sunday at 4 p.m. Grand Prize for the event is $2,000 and a variety of cash and other prizes will be awarded. Ducks are $5 and available at local merchants.
