The four remaining People’s Choice nominees for Best Band are The Action!, The Erika Desocio Band, Teenager and Rson Tully. The remaining Best Venue nominees are Funk ‘n Waffles, The Auburn Public Music Theater, The Lost Horizon and Shifty’s.
Armond Magnarelli, who recently passed away, will receive the Syracuse New Times Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony. Larry Luttinger, Dave Novak, Mark Hoffmann, Sandy Bigtree, Roosevelt Dean and Jerry Santy will receive Sammys Hall of Fame Awards.
The nominees for best Pop Album are Anorexic Beauty Queen Presents Michael Watson, The Bells and Whistles, Emerald City, Caleb Micah and Leif Olsen. Branded, Gary W. Brockway, Thomas Jankowski/Flipside and The Wolf Mountain Band are nominated for Best Country Album. Boots ‘N Shorts, Cluidan, Dennis McGuire’s One Man Band, Merry Mischief and Charlie Orlando are up for Best Folk/Bluegrass Album.
The Anthony Joseph Swingtet, The Don Martin Trio, Hanna Richardson and Phil Flanigan, The Sons of Syracuse and the YMCA Center for Creative Arts/Mission Drive have been nominated for Best Jazz Album. Thomas T.C. Carter and Electric Relaxation are nominated in the R&B Album category. C-Lite, DooWiTTle, Oxburg, $upa $atty, and Syntone are the Best Rap Album nominees. Dufus, The February, Fritz’s Polka Band, Kh’Mi and Molly Shea are nominated for their outstanding albums in the “other” category.
Carolyn Kelly and the Roosevelt Dean Band, Los Blancos, Chris Terra & Blue Smoke and Jimmy Wolf are nominated for their Blues Albums. For Alternative/New Rock, Crankdaddy, Cry to the Blind, Perpetual Burn, Torment the Vein, and Gregg Yeti and the Best Lights are nominated. For the best Rock Album, Grey Tide, October Nites, RUHA, Michael Ryan and Joe Whiting & Mark Doyle are nominated.
The Sammys’ scheduled musical guests are Grupo Pagan, performing from noon-1pm; Five to Life, performing 1-2pm; Oxburg from 2-3; Bobby Green, performing from 3-4pm; Lisa Gentile from 4-5pm; Primetime from 5-6pm; Dead Rose from 6-7pm and Simplelife, who will perform from 9:30-11:30pm after the 7-9:30 awards ceremony.
