All alone for Thanksgiving this year?
King of Kings Church in Clay wants you to join them for dinner.
The church, located at 8278 Oswego Road, Liverpool, is hosting a full turkey dinner starting at noon on Thanksgiving, Thursday Nov. 22. The menu will include all the trimmings — turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade applesauce and more.
King of Kings is holding the free event as a way to help those in the community who might be alone.
“We wanted to reach out to the community,” said Bonny McCabe, coordinator of discipleship ministries at the church. “We want to be able to help outside our walls.”
The event, which McCabe said she hopes is the first annual, is open to all members in the community at no cost. The church is preparing for about 100 people. Reservations are required and must be made by Friday Nov. 9; to reserve a seat, call the church at 622-2077 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
This is not just an event for those who can’t afford their own meal, although the less fortunate are certainly welcome to attend.
“We don’t want it to be seen as just something for the poor,” McCabe said. “We also want to invite the people that might be alone — they can’t make it to see their families on Thanksgiving. We want them to join us and have a nice dinner. We’re a caring community, and we want people to see that. We’d love for the community to join us.”
