Clarence Tolliver, Lenox Skate Park staff member addressed the town board to ask permission to hold three “Skate Late” sessions at the park.
“We always have a nice turn out on those nights,” Tolliver said. “I’ve probably seen about 30 or 40 kids at a time on those nights, so we have a good showing.”
Tolliver said the numbers at the park have increased over the past three years and the “Skate Late” event is a way to bring in new faces.
The board approved “Skate Late,” which will be held from noon to midnight June 28, July 26 and Aug. 16.
Supervisor Rocco DiVeronica said he met with Canastota Mayor Todd Rouse and discussed hook-up fees for sewer extension districts and the mayor wants more information on back charges.
The board approved the Onondaga County Water Authority permission to install a pressure reducing valve pit near the skate park.
A unanimous decision by the board will allow the town to hire contractors to remove materials from properties when home owners violate the property maintenance ordinance.
Any costs associated with property clean up will be placed on the homeowner’s tax bill.
Residents living within the Lewis Point/Pine Ridge Road water district will be billed in July beginning next year, to avoid tax bills coming due all at once. Councilman Anthony Palamara gave the board an update on the water district’s progress.
“Rick Meyers is doing the survey,” Palamara said. “An archeological preliminary study is being conducted and [the engineering firm] Dunn & Schromo is working with the [state Department of Environmental Conservation] to prepare wetland delineation.”
DiVeronica said he hopes to have bids go out for the project this winter for work to begin next spring.
The assessor’s office requested the board increase tax exemptions for senior citizens. The board decided to table the decision until they could gather more information.
A request for a street light at Route 5 and Nelson Road was made. DiVeronica said for less than $100 a year the town could support the lighting. Councilman Richard Rossi suggested a light also be placed at Conifer Drive and Oxbow Road at the town’s expense. The board approved both proposals.
Bids will go out for materials and a design for construction of a roof over the Skate Park.
Rossi asked the board if the town had ordinances regarding residents mowing grass by the road. Rossi told the board a resident on MaryLynn Drive was concerned about the grass being high by the road.
“I’m pretty sure there are no ordinances,” DiVeronica said.
The board held an executive session to discuss the sale and acquisition of real property.
The board will meet again July 9 at 7 p.m.
