Moving to 2-1 in league competition this winter, the Cicero-North Syracuse wrestling team easily handled West Genesee last Wednesday night, defeating the Wildcats 48-21.
True, the Northstars were helped by three forfeits adding up to 18 points, as Patrick Dyer (112 pounds), Jacob Pfeifer (152 pounds) and Kevan Smith (160 pounds) all won without taking to the mat.
Still, CNS got enough points without the help, and Anthony Maiorano (125 pounds) provided a particular thrill when he pinned Isaiah Wheeler in just 18 seconds.
No one else on the team worked that quickly, but Kyle Fritz, at 145 pounds, tried to by pinning Sean Clare in 1:26.
In all, the Northstars had five pins. Anthony Dolson (171 pounds) needed 3:48 to finish off David Elmer, while Robert Brant (119 pounds) worked a bit faster, pinning Jason Haggelke in 3:35, and Jamie French (135 pounds) pinned Tim Bright in 3:42.
After some rest, the Northstars has another big event at home this Wednesday and Thursday as it hosts the CNS Christmas Tournament, starting each day at 10 a.m.
