How could the Baldwinsville boys bowling team top an opening week where two different guys — Ryan Kratz and Ryan Calkins — each rolled 300 games?
By doing so again.
Kratz once again touched perfection last Thursday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes, providing the big highlight of the Bees’ 7-0 shutout of Henninger that kept the team undefeated in 2006-07.
Twelve times, Kratz stepped up to the lanes in his opening game. Every time, his ball found the pocket, and all 10 pins toppled.
Kratz would cool off a bit in the next two games and finish with a 691 series, but his masterful performance helped pull the rest of the team along.
Calkins, who had a 299 in that same opening week as his 300, could do no better than 211 in this match. But nick Catalino backed up Kratz with a steady 620 series that included a high game of 225. Tim Norton had a 205 high game.
B’ville has a chance to stay in first place this week — and pursue some more perfect games – when it meets Rome Free Academy and Central Square in its last matches before the holiday break.
