Common Grounds features Caz grad Morford’s B&W photo art
This month, Project Cafe at the Common Grounds features the black and white photography of student and class of 2004 Cazenovia High School graduate Tracy P. Morford. One of the photos in this exhibit has recently been selected for publication by B & W magazine and is being featured with a full page spread in this month’s Special Single Image Contest Winners Issue. Other works of hers recently have received worldwide publication when they were featured on the CD/DVD release Alive by the band Bury Your Dead.
Tracy is currently majoring in photography at the School of Visual Arts, in New York City, where she has interned and worked with the celebrity photographer Patrick McMullan and noted fashion photographer Steven Klein.
According to Tracy, her pictures on display at Common Grounds are part of her current work that is concentrated on capturing a mood. In all these images, she has avoided showing the face of her subjects, so that instead of becoming a portrait, the viewer is left to focus on the other elements of her photographs.
“My intentions were to strip these photographs of everything that could remind you of a specific place or time and keep them raw and reminiscent of something in the past,” she said
Her photos will be on display at Common Grounds through the end of December. More of her recent work can be viewed at TracyMorford.com.
