C&G Music Store is holding their first anniversary sale this weekend, Friday Nov. 17 and Saturday Nov. 18 at the facility located in the Baldwinsville Commons. C&G Music first opened on Nov. 12, 2005. The Baldwinsville Messenger spoke with Gerri Veith, who owns and operates the store with her husband Christopher Veith, Garrett Knaub and Johnny Z.
Why hold a first year anniversary event?
“Let more people know we are here and to get new people in the store.”
Since opening, how has the community received you?
“Pretty well, especially the parents of students in music programs. We offer music accessories like books, reeds, strings and lubes for students who are learning to play instruments in the school district. We also have a drop off location for repairs so people don’t have to travel to North Syracuse. Local business owners have been great also. I am still amazed, however, that after a year, people don’t know there is a music store in town.”
You have held a few events in your first year. Do you intend to continue the trend?
“Oh, definitely. We have had a great response, especially for our band camps. Many kids said they want to come back for future camps. In fact, we are planning one for the February break.”
What has been your best experience to date in your facility?
“Having kids come in who want to learn how to play an instrument. We have a great retention rate for kids who take lessons. We offer bass, guitar, keyboard and drum lessons. Most of the kids stick with the program for the entire year. It has been a very positive experience for us.”
You recently had Eddie Jackson of Queensryche visit C&G Music. How did his appearance turn out and do you plan to invite other musicians for meet and greets?
“If we can continue, it would be great to offer these types of events. We had about 100 Queensryche and Eddie Jackson fans show up for the event, which was sponsored in part by Spector Bass.”
All are invited to the anniversary event to take advantage of an enormous range of savings including 25 percent off on all electric guitars, Spector basses and Cakewalk recording software. Buy two pairs of sticks and get one free or save 10 percent on all accessories including capos, tuners, stands and straps. Also, get one free lesson with every guitar purchase.
C&G Music has expanded to offer customers a gift registry, a rewards program (no cost to sign up), gift certificates and gift accessories such as T-shirts, mugs and belt buckles. C&G Music Store is also a sheet music online retailer offering an endless range of music titles for lyrics or instruments at the click of a button.
