Skaneateles Central School District capital project vote to be held Tuesday, Dec. 8
On Tuesday, Dec. 8, voters in the Skaneateles Central School District will have an opportunity to vote on a capital project that will address infrastructure and preserve the district’s high quality of education for students.
“While so much has changed in our lives over the past year, the Skaneateles Central School District will be here to serve students for years to come,” said Skaneateles CSD Superintendent Eric Knuth. “Project 2023/24 will ensure that we can continue to provide our students with all of the tools necessary for an outstanding educational experience, from proper infrastructure in our buildings to modern classroom spaces.”
Some areas that will be addressed in Project 2023/24 include the high school gymnasium, middle school and high school restrooms, the high school FACS classroom, the turf and track, and the State Street gymnasium and cafeteria. The project will also address a number of infrastructure items in all buildings, including HVAC upgrades, insulation, and masonry restoration. Construction is expected to begin in 2023.
Project 2023/24, a $21.5 million capital project, is projected to be tax-neutral because the district will be paying off debt from prior capital projects in the year 2023-2024. This allows the district to take on new payments in the year 2024-2025, where there would be no increase in the tax levy from this portion of the budget.
The Project 2023/24 vote will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 8 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Skaneateles Central School District Office, 45 East Elizabeth St., Skaneateles, NY 13152.
