Jacob Dolan of Liverpool, a seventh-grade student at Liverpool Middle School, placed first in the Male U14 division on the second day of the Kandahar ADK/Central regional ski race festival, held March 7 and 8 at McCauley Mountain in Old Forge.

Kandahar was one of the 2019-20 season’s last events before U.S. Ski & Snowboard and the New York State Ski Racing Association canceled the remainder of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Dolan qualified for a race in New Hampshire, which was canceled.
“The season came to an end abruptly. Normally, we’d be skiing into April,” said Debbie Magaro-Dolan, Jacob’s mother. “We miss everybody,” she added of the friendships the Dolan family has made with fellow skiers.
Forced into the off-season early, Jacob Dolan is now focusing on dry-land training. Dolan, who has skied since age 3, also participates in rowing, soccer and motocross.
