With a chance to move to the top of the CNY Counties League, the Baldwinsville boys golf team could not quite grab it, falling to West Genesee 179-197 last Monday afternoon at Westvale Golf Club in Camillus.
Dan Strodel shot a nine-hole total of 38, but four Wildcat players beat that, including Bryan Semple, with a one-under-par 33, and Nick Smith, who had a 34.
Otherwise for B’ville, Christian Nizamis, Tim Rothenhoefer and Brendan Polsin had matching rounds of 39, while Paul Pitcher had a 43. Jimmy Sauda (36) and John Clare (37) gave Semple and Smith support on WG’s side.
The Bees made another road trip on Wednesday, this time to Greenview, and bounced back by earning a 195-204 victory over Central Square.
Four players shot 38, three of them – Polsin, Pitcher and Josh Pinard – played for B’ville, while Brandon Payne did the same for the Red Hawks. Rothenhoefer managed a 40, one ahead of Sean Barron and the same as Central Square’s second player, Matt Straub.
