After waiting out two days of rain that caused postponements, girls golfers from Liverpool, Cicero-North Syracuse and Baldwinsville all got in their last regular-season matches in advance of Tuesday’s Section III championships at Kanon Valley.
Liverpool’s duo of Natalya and Mia Avotins are individual favorites in the sectional tournament, and the sisters led the way again for the Warriors in last Wednesday’s 183-231 victory over West Genesee at Westvale.
Over nine holes, Natalya Avotins shot a 40, with Mia Avotins adding a 41. They were both ahead of the Wildcats’ Mikaela Riley, whose 45 tied that of Liverpool’s Hanna Dombroski.
C-NS Blue and Baldwinsville battled each other last Wednesday at Northern Pines, and the Northstars had full command of it, pulling away to defeat the Bees 182-214.
A close race for individual honors went to C-NS Blue’s Amy Krohl, who shot a 43, while Abby Ainsworth had a 44 and Jessica Ricciardi posted a 45. Each of them was ahead of the 48s shot by B’ville’s sister duo of Colleen and Cara Vredenburg.
C-NS Green had to run into undefeated Fayetteville-Manlius last Wednesday and lost, 173-262. Mackenzie Wessels and Kayleigh Virginia both shot 64, while the Hornets got a 39 from Bailey Wallace and a 41 from Lucy Fowler.
Then, when C-NS Blue took its turn against F-M on Thursday, it scored well, yet still took a 166-190 defeat. Ainsworth and Krohl both shot 44, with Ricciardi and McKeznzie Lalone each posting 51. Justine Burness had a 39 for the Hornets ahead of the 40s from Wallace and Fowler.

Baldwinsville had one more regular-season match, on Friday, and beat West Genesee 210-229 at Timber Banks. Though the Wildcats’ Mikaela Riley led all individuals with a 46, Colleen Vredenburg had a 47 and help from Cara Vredenburg, who posted 52, and Margaret Dec, who had a 50 as no other WG player was lower than 59.
