To the editor:
Doug Foster, the current Town of Van Buren Highway Superintendent, is seeking reelection on Tuesday, Nov. 7. I will be voting for Mr. Foster to continue as Van Buren’s highway superintendent based on his experience, work ethic and desire to act in the resident’s best interests.
One clear example of this is the re-purposing of a vacant building that will house the new highway garage. Mr. Foster worked with the town board to help make this happen. The old highway garage has no gas service, no public water service and no public sewer service. However, the new highway garage has public gas, water and sewer, all helping to keep operating and maintenance costs down. In addition, the new highway garage is much larger and more centrally located to better serve the Van Buren residents.
All of this was accomplished while still lowering the highway tax rate every year he has been in office. By being able to lower the tax rate this clearly shows he is keeping a close eye on expenses and managing the highway departments budget properly.
Please join me in keeping this qualified candidate as our highway superintendent.
Vote Doug Foster Nov. 7.
