Through seven matches in the 2016-17 season, no one has proven able to top the Liverpool girls bowling team.
And that included archrival Cicero-North Syracuse, who took its shot during last Tuesday’s showdown at Flamingo Bowl, but couldn’t quite catch up as the Warriors held off the Northstars by a score of 2-1.
It was Liverpool’s depth that made the difference, for the scores at the top were identical. Dailyn McCarthy led the Warriors with a 561 series that included a 202 high game, while Danielle Maher had a season-best three-game total of 520, with a 190 high game.
Meanwhile, C-NS had Kaitlin Antineli match McCarthy’s 561 series, only she produced a 223 high game, while her teammate, Mikayla Drozdz, equaled Maher’s 520 set, though her high game of 184 was six pins less than Maher.
This 6-0 start for Liverpool had them in first place in the CNY Counties League, and all of it is taking place without a single senior on the Warriors’ roster. They would make it seven in a row on Thursday by shutting out West Genesee 3-0 at Solvay Recreation Alley.
Dominique Cimini took the lead for Liverpool, shooting a 533 series and high game of 196. Danielle Maher had a 494 series and 182 high game, while Ashley Hardy earned a 460 series, No one on WG’s side fared better than a 424 series from Gina Neri.
Meanwhile, C-NS and Liverpool battled in boys bowling last Tuesday at Flamingo, and it also ended 2-1, but in the Northstars’ favor.
Here, the difference was that C-NS got two strong series, one from Josh Cloute as he got a 644 set and 227 high game, and another from Nick Bough as his 217 game led to a three-game total of 625. The Warriors had just one series above 600, from Zak Ormsby, who finished with a 610 set and high game of 223.
C-NS would also prevail in its pair of matches against West Genesee. While sweeping the Wildcats 3-0, the boys Northstars had Bough earn a 707 series (high game 247), while Cloute’s 256 game led to a 696 set. Zach Emm had a three-game total of 647.
In the girls 3-0 win, Antineli finished with a 540 series and 190 high game, while Elianna Pitts stepped up for a 498 series and high game of 192. Trinity Drozdz finished with a 423 series. Maddy Lux was the Wildcats’ top bowler with a three-game total of 444.
Liverpool beat West Genesee 3-0 on the boys side Thursday afternoon as Brandon Davis paced the Warriors, his 238 game leading to a 602 series. Ormsby’s three-game total of 554 included a 195 game as Logan Herrmann stepped up with a high game of 221.
Yet another pair of 3-0 victories followed for C-NS in Thursday’s home matches against Fayetteville-Manlius. On the boys side, Emm was close to perfect in one game, notching 10 straight strikes during a 288 that led to a 732 series.
Cloute was strong, too, his 669 series helped by a 259 high game as Josh Aicher had a 630 series and Bough shot a 207 during his 559 set. F-M had several solid performance, but no series better than John Buonfiglio’s 560 and no game better than Jackson Arment’s 219.
Meanwhile, Antineli stood out in the girls 3-0 win over F-M by putting together a three-game total of 697, with no game higher than 247. Carly Lescenski had a 483 series, with Drozda’s 199 game leading to a 469 series and Pitts shooting a 184 during a 446 set. Marta Polosky led the Hornets with a 454 series.
