Fayetteville — James Hughes recently announced that he is seeking re-election to continue serving as the Village of Fayetteville Justice for the March 15 village elections.
Hughes was first elected to the Village of Fayetteville Court in June 2013 and succeeded Judge Tom Miller who had been elected to the Onondaga County Court.
Villages elections will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at the Fayetteville Village Offices at 425 E. Genesee St. in Fayetteville. Currently there are no other candidates seeking the seat of village justice. The term for village justice is four years.
“I am honored to serve our community as village justice. My first responsibility is to conduct the court in a fair and respectful manner. The court must also be reliably and transparently administered. It is important work and I am honored to serve in this capacity,” said Hughes.
Hughes is a law partner with Hancock Estabrook LLP and has been practicing law full-time for the past 36 years. He is a 1972 graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School and a 1979 graduate of SUNY Buffalo Law School. Jim and his wife, Carol Recker-Hughes, have been married for 36 years. Their children, David and Emily, graduated F-M in 2003 and 2006 respectively.
