The wet and cold weather caused havoc with the baseball schedule, postponing, among other games, one between rivals Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool.
But it would get made up on Saturday afternoon, and would last 11 long innings before the Northstars pulled it out, 4-2, over the Warriors.
Thanks to a second-inning run, Liverpool took a 1-0 lead to the top of the sixth, when C-NS scored twice off Ryan Stott, only to have the Warriors answer with a run in the bottom of the sixth to gain a 2-2 deadlock.
For four tense innings, it stayed that way. Northstars starter Sam Spadafore exited in the seventh, replaced by Brad Hamilton, while Stott lasted until the ninth, when Tom Bianchi took over.
Finally, in the top of the 11th Bianchi surrendered two decisive runs, and Hamilton, who lasted 4 2/3 innings (close to a full start), blanked Liverpool in the bottom of the 11th to end it.
Chad McArdell supplied the big blows with a home run, double and two RBIs, while Stephen Kires doubled and drove in a run. For the Warriors, Kyle Watson had two hits and an RBI as Anthony Sgroi also managed a pair of hits.
A day earlier, the Warriors ignored the sub-freezing temperatures and beat Central Square 9-1 as Bobby Zywicki tossed a complete game and held the Redhawks to two hits.
Batting around in the top of the second, Liverpool scored six times, adding two runs in the third and a run in the fourth. Dillan Wilkinson finished with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI, with Bianchi, Michael Wright and Rocco Leone also driving in runs. Kyle Terzini scored twice.
