The Canastota Rotary Club is asking the community to go to their cupboards and grab a canned good or two and make a donation to the Opportunity Shop. In an effort to replenish the pantry shelves the Rotary Club will hold its first Loads of Love on Valentine’s Day.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 14, club members and a truck will be located in the P&C Foods parking lot at Canastota Commons.
“We were originally going to do this at Christmas time,” said Rotarian Rick Stevens. “But the Rotary decided there’s a need all year and that’s why we decided on this date. We plan to make it an annual event.”
There will be free coffee for everyone and those who make a non-perishable food donation will receive a Valentine especially made and donated by ElderHaven.
Suggested food items include peanut butter, cereal, dried goods and canned goods.
