Calling on every bit of its depth and talent, the Cicero-North Syracuse track and field teams took care of Baldwinsville in two different locales on a wet Wednesday afternoon.

In the boys meet at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium, the Northstars had more than enough for a 91.5-49.5 victory over the Bees.

The basis for this win was a great mark in field events. Andy Kahl cleared 6 feet 4 inches in the high jump, as Craig Barber (11 feet) and Mike Fischer (10 feet 6 inches) went 1-2 in the pole vault.

Jeff Crooks won the discus with a throw of 112 feet, as teammates Richie Lickfield and Dan Minahan each tossed the shot put 42 feet 2 inches.

Many of the races were tight. For example, in the 110-meter high hurdles, Ty Howington edged out teammate Andy Neumeister, though both hit the line in 16.2 seconds. Nick Orlando lost by an inch to B’ville’s Tyler Massaro in the 100-meter dash, each of them finishing in 11.7 seconds.

It was true in longer races, too, as Nathan MacNabb, in a time of 4:46.5, held off Ben Ludovici (4:46.8) for a one-two finish in the mile, the lone distance race where CNS would prevail.

One rout took place in the 400-meter hurdles, where James Thurn tore through the lap in 56.4 seconds, a top time in Section III this spring.

CNS also won two of the three relays. Ludovici, MacNabb, Jake Whritenour and Kevin Cusworth combined to take the 4×800 (8:18.8), while Thurn and Whritenour helped Jeff Azzoto and Zach Marchese prevail in the 4×400 in a clocking of 3:32.8.

Back at Bragman Stadium, CNS was dominating a three-way girls meet, beating Baldwinsville 102-39 and dumping West Genesee 125-16.

Katie Duerr won twice, holding off Lauren Slocum to take the 800 (2:29.5) and running the 1,500 in 4:58.3 as Lindsay Raulli (5:00.3) was second. Alicia Finger (10:55.3) and Taylor Wendler (10:58.4) went 1-2 in the 3,000.

Again, McKaye Neumeister pulled off the double of taking the 400-meter dash and 400 hurdles. In the first event, she edged out WG’s Katie Bott (both finished in 1:01.4), but no one caught Neumeister in the 400 hurdles as she won in 1:05.9.

Keriann Borke was first in the 100-meter high hurdles (15.8 seconds) and had a top triple jump of 35 feet 6 inches. Sommer Cloinger threw the discus 92 feet 7 inches and also won the shot put, going 40 feet 4 inches.

Monique Roberts resumed her domination of the high jump by clearing 5 feet 4 inches as Gina Campagna cleared 5 feet. Tiffany Elderboom (7 feet) tied B’ville’s Liz Johnson for first in the pole vault.

Slocum helped the Northstars’ 4×800 relay team prevail in 10:18.3, as Neumeister and Duerr were featured in the 4×400 relay where CNS won in a time of 4:21.0.

CNS wasn’t done, either. It went to Central Square on Saturday for the Warrior/Hawk Invitational and won plenty.

Jasmine Thompson took to the five-event pentathlon and, with 2,310 points, edged past Holland Patent’s Jennifer Lighthall (2,285 points) for that title.

Borke beat B’ville stars Cathleen Green and Brittany Ewald in the long jump, going 16 feet 5 inches, and added a winning triple jump of 35 feet 2 1/4 inches, well clear of the field. Cloinger threw the discus 95 feet 8 inches and the shot put 39 feet 1 inch to sweep those events as Roberts (5 feet 2 inches) again took the high jump.

Raulli turned her attention to the 2,000-meter steeplechase and easily won, her time of 7:40.5 more than 11 seconds clear of APW’s Jen Pernisi. Finger and Wendler went 1-2 in the 1,500, with Finger using a time of 5:03.6 to beat Wendler by a full second.

To culminate this wet, yet productive afternoon, Wendler, Duerr, Finger and Alicia Greco got together, and won the 4×800 relay in a time of 9:48.7.
