SYRACUSE – Each of the Cicero-North Syracuse indoor track and field teams met with complete success during Saturday’s afternoon session of the John Arcaro Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena.
In the girls event ,the Northstars again finished on top, earning 134.2 points as East Syracuse Minoa (98) was second, while the boys from C-NS had 131.5 points, well clear of ESM’s 85.
To begin the winning effort for the boys Northstars, Carlton Garnes covered the 55-meter hurdles in 8.02 seconds, getting first as Xander Provost finished fifth in 9.33. Davine Bennett then won the 55-meter dash in 6.72 in a 1-2 finish with Jayceon McGrew, who went 6.77.
Pairing up in the 4×800 relay, Tyler Graham, Dom Petrera, Liam Adams and Dante Melfi gave C-NS a win in 9:00.50 to ESM’s 9:07.76. Adams, in the 600-meter run, prevailed in 1:30.71, while Sean Graves finished fifth.
Melfi claimed the 1,000-meter run in 2:50.25 as Graham was third in 2:56.72 and Evan Champ was fifth. The Northstars were second in the 4×200 relay in 1:38,54 to West Genesee’s 1:37.21 and third in the 4×400 relay in 3:53.55.
Joe Main won the shot put, his heave of 41 feet 3 ¾ inches topping a field that included George Harrington (35’1”) in fourth place.
Trevon Walker used a long jump of 19’3 3/4” to win that event as Garnes was fourth with 18’4 1/2”. Grady Kennedy, with a weight throw of 38’4 3/4”, beat out Ethan Matthews (37’10”) for third place.
Noah Suarez got fifth and Blake Terry sixth in the 3,200-meter run, with Ben Rose sixth and Jacob LaPoint eighth in the 1,600-meter run. Jacob Klasen got sixth in the 300-meter dash in 39.46 seconds.
Jackson Petzoldt cleared 8’6” and tied for third in the pole vault. Provost topped 5’6” in the high jump for fourth place, Gavin Goettel tying for fifth (5’1”) as Camron Ingram was fifth in the triple jump with 36’5 1/2”.
On the girls side, C-NS saw Katy Harbold prevail at 1,500 meters in 5:10.27, with Keeley O’Mara in seventh place before Kate Putman took the 1,000 in 2:54.92, well clear of Gabby Putman’s second-place 3:03.97 as Marissa Navarra (3:13.43) was fourth.
Harbold and Hannah Boyle joined Kate and Gabby Putman to take the 4×800 in 9:24.53 as no one else broke the 10-minute mark. Boyle, in 45.96 seconds, was fifth in the 300, just behind Camryn Jacob (45.93) in fourth place, C-NS also getting third in the 4×200 in 1:54.35 as Boyle ran a leg there.
Skylar Denton, Eliana Ballagh, Sophia Graham and Cameron Sisk won the 4×400 in 4:27.94, with Graham going on to take the 600 in 1:45.46 ahead of Sisk (1:52.94) in third and Ballagh (1:55.50) in fifth place.
Morgan Hayes, with a long jump of 16’8”, won big as no one else got past the 15-foot mark, with Jasmine Ayre going 32’6 1/2” to win the triple jump as Aaliyah McDonald was fourth with 28’6 1/2” to go with an eighth in the long jump.
Ava Schiff beat the field in the shot put with a toss of 26’3”as Brigid Gill claimed seventh place, while Maria Sanfilippo claimed the weight throw, heaving it 31’10” to top Schiff’s second-place 29′ 1/2”. Kaleigh Bosimenu beat the field in the pole vault, clearing 8’9” as Natta Luangaphay was third.
Gianna Boland went 10.03 seconds to finish second in the 55 hurdles as Sydney D’Addio (10.07) was fifth. Kalli Congeen topped 4’8” for second place in the high jump, though she matched Fulton’s Olivia Hendrickson.
Kennedy Jones was fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:56.62, with Eva Farone fifth in the 55 sprint in 7.87 and Camryn Jacob (8.04) edging Eva Giannuzzi (8.06) for seventh place.
