Another season — and another piece of championship hardware for the Morrisville-Eaton field hockey team to boast about.
The Warriors secured first place in the Center State Conference Western division Wednesday by battling its way to a 3-2 victory over New York Mills.
M-E nailed down the league title by employing a ferocious attack that took 15 shots on the Marauders’ net before it was done.
Kate Verne, Courtney Ashcraft and Shelby Widger each scored, with Abby Clark and Leigha Morris adding assists.
New York Mills responded with goals from Ashley Suprenant and track star Linda Hadfield, and Vicki Swider made 12 saves to keep it close.
As if that wasn’t enough, M-E made the short trip to rival Hamilton on Thursday and blanked the Emerald Knights 3-0.
Steadily taking control in winter-like temperatures, the Warriors had a 1-0 edge at halftime, then added two more goals to overcome the work of Hamilton goalie Megan VanAuken, who finished with 10 saves.
Morris poured in one goal and one assist, with Rae Brown and Emily Corpin also taking turns scoring as M-E improved to 11-2-1. Hamilton’s record fell to 4-6-4.
Canastota also won on Thursday, surprising Sauquoit Valley by that same 3-0 margin. Despite the Indians’ 8-3-2 record, the Raiders saw Andrea Underwood score once and assist on both of the other scoring plays as her team out-shot Sauquoit 16-3.
