Summer Book Sale
The Summer Book Sale will be held at Skaneateles Village Hall (26 Fennell Street), July 7-10th.
This annual sale features thousands of adult and children’s books, plus DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and puzzles!
Book Sale Hours:
Thursday 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Friday 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Saturday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Bag Sale)
Explore Summer! Summer Reading Program

Explore Summer Kick-off Party | Saturday, June 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM
Kick-off summer with messy process art for the whole family! Drop by the library’s side yard to get your Explore Summer booklets and experiment with unconventional ways to make art.
Toddlers to 2nd Grade:
Complete activities throughout the summer at home and at the library. When kids finish the activities in their booklets, they’ll get a special invitation to attend one of our Explore Summer Celebrations at the end of August.
3rd to 6th Grade
Complete activities throughout the summer at home and at the library. Every activity you complete gives you a chance to win a local gift card. When kids finish the activities in their booklets, they’ll get a special invitation to attend one of our Explore Summer Celebrations at the end of August.
7th Grade thru Adult:
Read, Read, Read! Stop by the library to receive a Explore Summer punch card. Bring it back to the library to get a punch for each book you read. Five punches and you’ll receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win our grand prize!

Drop-In Tech Help | Mondays, 10:00 AM – Noon: Let us help with your tech questions: computers and mobile devices, downloading e-content from the library’s catalog, using Google Drive and social media platforms! Bring your device and drop in during a Tech Help session to get started! Appointments are also available, please give us a call at 315-685-5135 or email [email protected] to schedule.
Baby Bounce & Rhyme | Wednesdays in July at 9:15 AM:
Bond with your baby during this program featuring nursery rhymes, books, movement and fingerplays, followed by playtime with other babies and caregivers. For babies up to 18 months.
Story Time in the Yard | Thursdays in July at 10:30 AM:
Grab a blanket or lawn chair and join us for story time in the sunshine as we celebrate the outdoors, sing songs, and pop bubbles. For ages 18 months – 5 years. Story Time will move inside during inclement weather.

Butterfly Release with Winterberry Homestead | Tuesday, June 28th at 10:30 AM
Join us for a hands-on program with Winterberry Homestead. Learn about identifying caterpillars, the process of transforming into a butterfly, and more! At the end of the
program, participants will receive a butterfly they can release into the air and make a wish. Registration required. For ages 6 – 10.
The MOST @ the Library: Ocean of Possibilities | Tuesday, June 28th at 1:00 PM
Join the MOST in exploring marine habitats and the species that live there! Discover the diversity of ocean life, the effects of climate change on animal ecosystems, and more through hands-on samples and live science demonstrations with a MOST Science Educator. For ages 6 – 12.
Messy Play: Unstructured Exploration | Friday, July 1st at 10:30 AM
Join us in the library’s yard for open-ended, child-led playtime. Children will explore a simple mud kitchen, clay sculptures, and bubble blowing. Adults may want to bring a lawn chair to relax as children play. Please wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Unless there’s a chance of a storm, Messy Play will be held rain or shine. For ages 3 – 7.
Stuffed Animal Adoption | Tuesday, July 5th from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM:
Drop-in the library to pick out a mini stuffed pet to adopt and take home. Name your stuffed animal, decorate a pet carrier, and learn how to best care for your new mini-pet (hint: it loves to listen to storybooks!). Registration required. For toddlers to 7 years.
Family Yoga | Thursday July 7th at 1:00 PM
Join us for simple stretches and breathing with Ms. Colleen. For all ages.
Random Acts of Science | Friday, July 8th from 10:30 – 12:30 PM
Drop-in and experiment with a variety of STEAM activities. For ages 8 – 12.
Elementary School Book Club | Sunday July 10th at 2:30 PM
This month we’re reading Shirley and Jamila Save Their Summer by Gillian Goerz. Each month we’ll read a book or graphic novel and then get together to chat about the book and do an activity. For kids in grades 3 – 5.
Hula Hoop Workshop | Monday, July 11th at 6:30 PM
Come join us on the library lawn to learn the basics of hula hooping and a few simple tricks! Have fun and learn how to create your own flow. Taught by our staff member, Val, who has been hooping for over 8 years. Hula hoops will be provided but feel free to bring one from home! Registration required. For ages 9-12.
The Zoo to You | Tuesday, July 12th at 1:00 PM
The world of reading comes alive with this fun and educational program that will bring you face-to- face with exciting zoo animals. Get hands-on with the zoo’s one-of- a-kind animal artifacts, ask a professional zoo educator your animal questions, and learn how you can make a difference to wildlife. For ages 5 – 10.
Meet a Therapy Dog: Chewbacca | Wednesday, July 13th from 1:00 – 2:30 PM
Chewbacca is a gentle and sweet therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. Drop in at the library to meet Chewbacca, read him a short story from our collection, and soak up all his peaceful doggie vibes. For kids beginning to read independently to age 18.
Build the Change: Helping People | Thursday, July 14th at 1:00 PM
Build the Change is a powerful way for children to express their hopes and dreams for the future with LEGO bricks and other creative materials, plus their own imagination. Participants will learn about real-life problems and brainstorm sustainable solutions. Register for one workshop or all three. Topics include creating a sustainable building, a sanctuary for koalas, and a safe haven for sea horses. Registration required. For ages 8 – 12.
Afternoon Book Club |Monday, July 18th at 1:00 PM: Have you been looking for a daytime book club? Join us on the 3rd Monday of every month to chat books! This month we’ll be discussing Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. Copies of the book are available at the library. Registration requested. In person only.
Bad Guys Trivia | Tuesday, July 19th at 10:30 AM:
Are you a fan of the Bag Guys series by Aaron Blabey? Have fun testing your knowledge at this trivia program and talking about why you enjoy these books.For ages 6 – 10.
REV Theater Company Presents The Fisherman and His Wife at Austin Park | Wednesday, July 20th at 10:30 AM
Grab a blanket or lawn chair and join us at Austin Park for The REV’s adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, The Fisherman and His Wife! A fisherman and his wife, Isabel, live in a small hut by the sea. They have everything they need and enjoy a simple, happy life. When a magical flounder turns up and starts granting wishes, Isabel is quickly consumed by greed, wishing her way through stints as queen, empress, and finally, ruler of the universe! Location: Austin Park, near the Jordan Street parking lot. For ages 5 – 10.

Bluey Party | Saturday, July 23rd from 1:00 – 3:00 PM:
Fans of the TV show Bluey are invited to drop-in to the library to do crafts and activities inspired by all things Bluey.
Books, Balls, and Blocks with Help Me Grow Onondaga | July 26th at 10:30 AM
The pandemic has affected children during a critical time and has a direct impact on their social emotional development. Join Librarian Mary Beth as she reads a book and sings some songs about feelings. Afterward, adults and kids will explore several different stations with easy ideas for play at home that help with your child’s early literacy skills and social emotional health. Free tote bags filled with the activities during the event are available for attendees. Adults are asked to fill out a survey about their child’s development, as well. This program is brought to you in partnership with Help me Grow Onondaga. Registration required. For babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Evening Book Club | Wednesday, July 27th at 6:30 PM: This month we’re reading The Night Shift by Alex Finlay. The Evening Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month both in-person and virtually. Copies of the book are available at the library. Registration requested.
