ONONDAGA COUNTY – As the season began to turn toward the homestretch, the Christian Brothers Academy girls golf team continued to get the best of all of its Onondaga High School League opponents.
The Brothers were dominant in last Monday’s 185-258 victory over Skaneateles at Drumlins, sweeping the top three individual spots.
Annie Kilmartin and Aubrey Mills both shot 42 for nine holes as Hanna Kang added a 44. All of them were ahead of the 55 by the Lakers’ Julia Marshall as Jane Walsh got a 57 and Ari DeFrancisco posted a 62.
By contrast, CBA’s match with Bishop Grimes on Wednesday at the Links at Erie Village was a closer affair, one that the Brothers were able to take over the Cobras by a 199-208 margin.
Kilmartin, with a 41, and Bella Meade, with a 46, went 1-2 among individuals ahead of the twin 48s posted by Grimes’ Sarah Falgiatano and Ashley Ince.
Natalie Musolino was fifth with a 51 for the Cobras, but CBA claimed the next four spots, Kate Janczyk and Emma Vercillo each shooting 56 ahead of Victoria English (59) and Bella Holstein (61) as Abby Tweedale had a 61 for Grimes.
At 0-5 going into last Monday’s match against Chittenango at Woodcrest, Grimes, led by Falgiatano, broke that skid, defeating the Bears 258-265.
Falgiatano’s 48 was seven shots ahead of Chittenango’s Delaney Dawkins (55). After Abby Van Dee posted a 56, the Cobras got in front with a 62 from Abby Tweedale, a 71 from Ashley Ince and 75 from Lexi Emmi.
Then, on Friday, Grimes shot 212 at Erie Village to beat both Skaneateles (214) and Marcellus (217), helped by Falgiatano’s first-place 44 and Musolino’s 50 which put her in third place as Ince had a 58 and Emmi added a 60.
When the SCAC Empire division teams gathered at Butternut Creek last Friday, East Syracuse Minoa Blue shot 199 to take team honors by one stroke over Jamesville-DeWitt, who had a 200, while ESM Orange was third with 235.
This happened even though the Red Rams had Sophia Ferris, Abby Newman and Jadea Robinson shoot 48 to tie for second behind the 42 from Oswego’s Catherine Callen. Helaina Scolaro paced ESM Blue with a 49.
Fayetteville-Manlius Green went to Hickory Hills last Thursday to look to avenge its April 30 defeat to Liverpool, who was still undefeated and atop the SCAC Metro division standings.
But the Hornets could not quite pull it off, falling 146-149 to the Warriors amid a spirited individual duel where Lucy Fowler’s 30 was just behind the 29 from Mia Avotins and just ahead of the 31 from Nataly Avotins.
Michaela Papa shot a 38 and Madison Krouse had a 40 to round out the top five, but despite a 44 from Kristen Truman, the Warriors held on with a 41 from Jewel Daniels and 45s from Mackenzie Cahl and Ella Foriero.
F-M’s White team got into the win column last Monday when it beat Cicero-North Syracuse Green 223-231 at Northern Pines, the Northstars’ home course.

Johnny Gruninger again led the Trojans, his 32 not far ahead of the 35 posted by teammate Tommy Wildhack as Jack Marquardt got a 38 and James Wildhack shot 41.
