TOWN OF DEWITT – The morning after Earth Day, local residents dressed in safety vests and volunteered their time for this year’s spring cleanup spanning the town of DeWitt.
Hosted by the DeWitt Advisory Conservation Commission (DACC), the three-hour event saw participants gather at either Robbie T’s Pizza on North Street in Jamesville or at the Ryder Park pavilion on Butternut Drive before venturing off to their spots of choice.
Between 9 a.m. and noon, residents signed up to clean such sections of town as Jamesville Road, Widewaters Parkway, Erie Boulevard, Bridge Street and Woodchuck Hill Road.
The resulting bags of litter were then slapped with Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) stickers and left on the roadsides for pickup.
Anyone who missed the organized cleanup that Saturday can still pick any other day that fits their schedules to go out and clean. In those instances, they can contact DACC chair Dennis Payne at either 315-469-0565 or [email protected].
