Free-will offering to benefit education in Haiti
The United Church of Fayetteville will host the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble of 35 musicians directed by Dr. James Spencer, the UCF Handbell Choir conducted by UCF organist and Director of Music Ministries Jared Shepard, and special guests for 2018, the Syracuse Chorale, lead by Artistic Director Dr. José “Peppie” Calvar.
The concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the United Church of Fayetteville, 310 E. Genesee St. in Fayetteville.
Proceeds will be used to purchase books and workbooks for about 150 pre-school students and their teachers. The Haiti Educational Mission Partnership (HEMP). Besides the freewill offering, guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Fayetteville-Manlius Food Pantry.
This afternoon of music will feature: “The Holly & the Ivy,” “Fantasy on Greensleeves,” “Yule Dance,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Christmas Overture,” “Emmanuel,” ‘Disney Around the World,” “Three Kings Swing,” “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “Veni Emmanuel.” The brass, chorale and organ will collaborate on John Rutter’s “Gloria” with brass and percussion introducing the choral and organ parts.
