The 16th annual Jazz N Caz weekend, presented by Cazenovia College, is returning in just a few weeks, and this year’s schedule of concerts and events has been announced.
The event will open at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, with an opening party featuring Dave Hanlon’s Funky Jazz Band on the Brae Loch Inn lawn (inside if inclement weather).
On Friday, Sept. 15, the 7:30 p.m. concert “The Jazz Greats!” will happen at the Catherine Cummings Theatre on Lincklaen Street. The concert will feature the Soda Ash Six followed by swing tenor saxophonist Harry Allen with Nancy Kelly and her fantastic trio, featuring Dino Losito, Neal Miner and Jimmy John.
At 10:30 p.m. Friday night, enjoy Jazz After Hours at the Lincklaen House following the main stage at the Catherine Cummings Theatre. The night will feature rhythm section with Tom Witkowski on piano, Joe Arcuri on bass, Jason Jeffers on drums and all musicians welcome.
On Saturday, Sept. 16, pianist and vocalist Peter Cincotti will take to the Catherine Cummings Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m., followed by Evan Christopher’s Clarinet Road featuring Jon-Erik Kellso, Mark Shane, Pat O’Leary and James Chirillo. There will also be a Jimmy Van Heusen Jazz break in between Evan Christopher’s Clarinet Road sets, featuring local musicians.
The weekend concludes with Jazz After Hours at 10:30 p.m. at the Lincklaen House, featuring rhythm section with Tom Witkowski on piano, Joe Arcuri on bass, Jason Jeffers on drums and all musicians welcome.
Jazz-N-Caz is free and open to the public. A $10 donation is suggested at evening events that take place in the Catherine Cummings Theatre.
