Come and see paintings that are over 100 years old and used to hang in the Madison County Courthouse prior to a 1960s renovation during Madison County Archives Day, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Madison County Office Building No. 4 (DMV Building). A dozen paintings will be on display, and most have been in storage for the past 50 years.
Along with the paintings, featured documents on display will include Oaths of Office for the Judges, bios of the judges, court cases that the individuals took part in and how the county is working in partnership with Buffalo State University’s Art Conservation Department to restore the paintings to their original glory. Two of the paintings have already been restored, and another is currently out for restoration. There is no charge for this event.
