Manlius native Natalie Goldberg started acting at Fayetteville-Manlius High School, but now travels the country performing in plays with Theatreworks USA, a youth-oriented production company based in New York City. On May 21, Syracuse will welcome her back for a production of the children’s musical, “Alexander, Who’s Not, Not, Not, Not, Not, Not Going to Move,” in which she will play the characters of Nick and Becky.
Goldberg said the reason she is involved in theater is to move people and to tell a story. “Performing children’s theater is extra special because your audience is with you from the beginning. They believe the story you’re telling them and they come along for the ride,” she said. “I love this story we’re telling.”
Goldberg graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius in 2011 and received her BFA in musical theater at Syracuse University. She has performed off-Broadway in “Urinetown: The Musical.” Her regional credits include “Catch Me If You Can,” “Company” and “Grease.” She is currently touring the United States and Canada.
Ticket sales benefit Make-A-Wish Central New York.
“Make-A-Wish is so important because it gives kids the chance to experience pure happiness, kids who have spent a significant amount of time in and out of hospitals and who have had more doctor visits than most adults have in their whole life,” she said. “Make-A-Wish gives these kids an experience free of all that and instead, fulfills their one true wish. These kids deserve the world and Make-A-Wish does everything they can to give them that. That’s truly wonderful.”
The show will be shown at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, at the Palace Theater in Syracuse. Preferred seating is $20 per ticket; general admission is $10. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 475-9474. To purchase tickets online, visit makeawish.kintera.org/Alexander.
