Oneida — The Silverwood Clarinet Choir has announced that it will hold a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Oneida Community Mansion House, 170 Kenwood Avenue, Oneida, and all are invited to attend.
The concert, “Musical moods for a cold winter day and Valentine’s Day,” will feature original pieces, classical compositions and lighter pieces. The signature song “Silverwood” introduces all the instruments. Bizet’s “Trompette et Tambour” will establish a good sense of humor. Edward Elgar wrote the “Enigma Variations No. 1” romantically for Caroline Alice Elgar. Several movements of the “Enigma Variations, Waltz Opus 48” by Peter Tchaikovsky and “Canzona” by Giovanni Gabrieli are examples of the classical repertoire that will be performed. A very moving piece by Roland Cardon, “Moods,” will help your emotions flourish.
Lighter music by Scott Joplin, Lennon/McCartney and others are guaranteed to warm you up. “The Phantom of the Opera” will set the mood for Valentine’s Day and the stirring closing with “The Stars and Stripes Forever” will set you in the mood to march off to the Superbowl game.
