Cazenovia — Auditions for the musical “Sweet Charity” will be held at the Catherine Cummings Theatre at Cazenovia College, on Lincklaen Street in Cazenovia. Auditions are open to the entire Central New York theater community, all roles are open.
Auditions are scheduled as follows:
Saturday, Jan. 23, 6 p.m. – Dancers who sing
Monday, Jan. 25, 2:30 p.m. – Dancers who sing
Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2:30 p.m. – Singers who dance
Call backs will be on Saturday, Jan. 30, beginning at 6 p.m.
“Sweet Charity” has several principle roles for women who are strong singer/dancers and men who are more actor/singers. The show requires a large dancing ensemble of women and some men.
Those auditioning should prepare a short Broadway style song that shows off their voice. The song does not need to be memorized and can be sung a cappella.
“Sweet Charity” is a Bob Fosse dance musical based on Federico Fellini’s screenplay for “Nights of Cabiria,” with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and book by Neil Simon.
Rehearsals will begin mid-February and performances are scheduled from April 8 to 17, with Friday and Saturday shows at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
