TOWN OF MANLIUS – On Saturday July 24, students from Ida Tili-Trebicka, a piano professor in Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University, performed a benefit concert, raising money for Food Bank of CNY.
The idea for this concert came together in a conversation between Tili-Trebicka and parents.
According to Tili-Trebicka, there were two purposes behind the fundraiser, to give students an opportunity to perform live in front of an audience, after a long hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic and to raise money for a non-profit organization of choice.
In consultation with parents and students Tili-Trebicka chose Food Bank of CNY as the recipient of the funds.
Tili-Trebicka said the students were very excited of the whole idea, especially after being aware of the mission of this non-profit organization “working towards eliminating hunger through nutritious food distribution and advocacy in cooperation with the community.”
The concert was held at the residence of Ioana Amzuta and Traian Anghel, both practicing medical doctors in the Syracuse area.
The performers were students from Tili-Trebicka’s private studio in Manlius, and from Syracuse University, Setnor School of Music.
The performers included: Hadrian Thor Deshorties Capocaccia 4th grade from Syracuse Latin School, Mia Zhai, 5th grade from Eagle Hill middle school in Manlius, Daniel Yang 3rd grade from Enders Road Elementary School, Ileana Anghel 11th grade from Manmius Pebble Hill, high school, Elizabeth McCrohan, soprano and pianist, who studies at Syracuse University; a native of Manlius, and Jonida Lazellari a graduate of the MM program in piano performance from Syracuse University, from Albania.
The performance raised $1,500 for the food bank.
