Tie Dye on the Lawn allows 400 to express themselves
A happy collection of children, teens, parents and grandparents made the most out of a sunny afternoon in the Liverpool Public Library’s Dinosaur Garden.
Tie Dye on the Lawn drew an estimated 400 patrons to the 17th edition of the Family Summer Reading event on Wednesday, July 20.
They took librarians and teen volunteers up on their offer to help pick out a design, follow the instructions and rubber-band the T-shirt or other cotton item they brought from home for the occasion.
Then the kids and caregivers carefully dipped the garments in buckets of the setting agent for at least five minutes, applied their favorite colors of dye and carefully placed them in plastic bags. After thoroughly cleaning up with hand sanitizer and a hose, they took their hand-made art home to unwrap, wear and treasure.
