One’s a dark-featured international comedian living in New York, the other’s a red-haired motivational speaker and business consultant living in London, at first glance and even inspection of resumes, no one would suppose these two men’s hereditary connection. But despite their 10-year gap, confusing opposite appearances, and varying career paths, brothers Dan and Joe Frigolette join forces for a one-night event Dec. 22 at Funk ‘n Waffles in Syracuse, near where they both grew up.
Both Baldwinsville graduates are proud Bees and Syracuse loyals. The Frigolettes are delighted to return to see friends and family this holiday season, with their one-night show “Comedy’s Best Kept Secret Tour,” which takes place at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Funk ‘n Waffles, located at 307-13 S. Clinton St. in Syracuse.
Tickets are $12 presale and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at funknwaffles.com/syracuse-calendar. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Expect a 90-minute show with an R rating.
Joe Frigolette is known for his absolute positive mindset, and constant tendency to challenge the status quo. He believes that once we’ve decided we want to accomplish something, nothing should hold us back. He imagines a world where we didn’t fear the word “no.” Where we never let doubt from others prevent us from living the quality of life that we know we should be living. This is the centerpiece to his production of “Tell Me No” which premiered at a Ted X event in Salisbury, Maryland, where Joe was working as a business consultant. “Tell Me No” is a motivational soliloquy surmising that being told “No” should empower us to push for change and to achieve beyond what others and even ourselves expect.
A year ago, Joe Frigolette took his talents to London, England, for a jet-setting debut on foreign business diplomacy. He has since traveled to over a dozen countries in just 15 months, and continues to spread optimism to those in his purview. He plans to stop this “no” pandemic that has been holding us back for much too long!
Elder Frigolette, Dan, a Syracuse University graduate of the Newhouse School, is a standup comedian and actor who has been seen on “The Bob and Tom Show,” HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” “Show Me A Hero,” “Younger,” “Sexy Beasts,” “ElimiDate,” “The Following,” “The Wendy Williams Show,” Jerry O’Connell’s “Jerry O’,” “The Godfather Of Harlem” and “The Artie Lange Show.”
Dan Frigolette once graced the Syracuse Airwaves as DJ Danny Shays on Z89’s Top 8 @ 9, as an on-air jock for more than five years, and another three years on WBXL in Baldwinsville.
He is the executive producer of “The Apartmentship” with Andrew Schulz, “Stonehenge Oh Yeah” with James Manzello, The Hoboken Comedy Festival, NJFunnyfest, Make Me Laugh Comedy Contest. He’s the host of Porn Stars Are People Podcast which focuses on de-stigmatizing the adult film industry and the negative associations in the public, available wherever podcasts are. Frigolette recently wrote and hosted the Inked Awards run by Inked Angels and MyFreeCams.com.
Frigolette’s comedy has raised money for The Boys and Girls Club, The Humane Society, The Benevolent Elks, Rotary, volunteer fire departments, youth programming, police benevolent associations, The Teamsters Union, and for the creation of women’s self-defense classes.
He got his start in Syracuse in a now-defunct club in the basement of the Hotel Syracuse called Viva Debris, run by Joe DeLion. Now a New York City circuit regular, Dan finds joy in traveling the country to small towns, to entertain folks. His stage prose is energetic and high paced, with a wit that stops hecklers in their tracks. You will remember seeing Frigolette in person, and love every minute of it.
He travels the country with his “pitmatian” Tess, raising money for various animal charities, and rubbing people’s bellies. His first comedy album, “Naked and Amused: Comedy at a Nudist Colony,” came out in late 2017. He’s recently been featured in South Africa on SABC3’s “Trending SA,” “WTF Tumi” and “The Stuart Taylor Show.”
