CNY Reads One Book is a community-wide reading program designed to promote reading, discovery, and the sharing of different perspectives by encouraging area residents to read the same book and participate in programs related to that book. The program is organized by the CNY Reads Consortium, a partnership between arts, education and social-service organizations throughout the region.
The CNY Reads One Book selection for this year is Gabrielle Zevin’s “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry.”
In “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry,” the life of disgruntled bookshop owner A.J. undergoes a transformation when an unexpected discovery is made in his store. It’s a heartwarming book about a lonely man who finds true love, happiness, and friendship.
How can you get involved? Start by reading “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry.” Better yet, share the book with friends and family by hosting your own book club. Book club kits are available from though the library and include 12 paperback books, a reader’s guide with discussion questions, and come in an easy to carry tote. The novel is also available as an e-book through the library’s digital services OverDrive and Hoopla.
After reading the book, “join the conversation” by attending one or more of the CNY Reads One Book events happening across Central New York through March, including a book discussion at 6:30 p.m. March 15 at NOPL North Syracuse.
