Poetry and Art in the Bus – a Countywide Contest
10 a.m. Saturday, April 8
Calling poets and artists of all ages! Participate in the Poetry and Art in the Bus contest. Write a poem or draw a black and white sketching at our library on April 8. All entries will be submitted into the contest and winners will be announced at Betts Branch Library on May 6. The prize-winning poetry and drawings will appear inside CENTRO buses throughout Onondaga County.
‘Show Boat’ (A Lincoln Center LIVE telecast)

Based on the popular novel by Edna Ferber, “Show Boat” tackles serious issues such as racism, marriages gone wrong, alcoholism and gambling, and covers nearly 50 years in the lives of a show business family. “Show Boat” bursts with songs that quickly became part of The Great American Songbook such as “Ol’ Man River,” “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man,” “Make Believe” and “Why Do I Love You?”
‘Hidden Figures’ (Rated PG-13)
6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15
The incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big. “Hidden Figures” has won six awards including the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
