Did you know Canton Woods has two Neighborhood Advisors/Outreach Workers available to assist seniors 60 and over in the towns of Lysander and Van Buren? They can help you with information and referral, as well as determine if you may be eligible for benefit programs. Call or come by and meet with your Neighborhood Advisor.
Canton Woods’ Classic Car Show is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 8 (rain date of Aug. 15). There will be classic cars, a DJ, summer foods and raffles. This has become a summer favorite and is always a fun evening in on the Canton Woods grounds.
Art group gathers at Canton Woods. Canton Woods is very pleased to announce that Mike Conway, newly retired art teacher, has agreed to facilitate an Art Group at Canton Woods. Call the center to sign up at 638-4536.
Bunco at Canton Woods. The Bunco players will roll the dice again at 1 p.m. Aug. 16. Get in on the action and the laughter! Call the center 638-4536 and let us know you will be joining the game.
Canton Woods Book Club meets the third Tuesday of each month. Book Club’s next meeting is at 2 p.m. Aug. 16. For the August meeting, read “Fates and Furies,” by Lauren Groff, 2015 National Book Award Finalist. Read the book and come and join this lively discussion!
Summer Entertainment Series continues with local favorite George Leija. George will return to Canton Woods at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18. The concert is free and sponsored by Kay Brosh, independent insurance consultant. Make a reservation and stay for lunch at noon. The menu includes spiedie marinated grilled chicken, fresh spinach salad, fresh corn on the cob and strawberry angel food cake delight.
Canton Woods Summer Open Rec. The center is open to residents 60 and older for Open Rec from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays throughout the summer.
The Senior Activity Group Hot Dog Tuesdays are at 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Stop by the center and enjoy these seasonal favorites. Everyone is welcome. The price is $2.25 per hot dog or coney. This is a fun and tasty fundraiser. See you at the center!
Canton Woods now has a medication return collection unit. This is a safe and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your unused medications. You may drop off your unused medication to the return box at Canton Woods from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Senior Nutrition. You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation (638-4536) and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $2.75.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Friday, Aug. 5, the menu includes honey sesame pork chop, candied sweet potatoes, California blend vegetables, fresh baked wheat dinner roll and applesauce. Make your reservation and join us for a delicious lunch!
