BALDWINSVILLE – As it is developing, the Baldwinsville boys bowling team is developing a depth and quality of its own that could rival what the girls have built on their way to glory beyond Central New York circles – even if it doesn’t always translate into league wins.
Displaying this depth Tuesday against Fayetteville-Manlius at B’ville Sports Bowl, the boys Bees got three series well above 600 that served as the foundation for a 7-0 shutout of the Hornets.
Jordan Sevigny was nearly perfect in his opening-game 268, following it up with 165 and 226 for a 659 series, which was equaled by Wes Lell thanks to Lell’s games of 254, 223 and 182.
Zenon Gasiorowski took a different approach, starting with 193 and 192, but then surging to a 256 in his final game for a 641 series as Scott Ritcey had a three-game total of 508 opened by a 189.
By contrast, no F-M player shot a game better than the 193 from Gabriel Williams, who posted a 557 series as Sean Bird (511 series) and John Antczak (500 series) followed.
Meanwhile, the B’ville girls rolled again, 7-0, over F-M, and Samantha Hass was the spark, shooting a 236 to open and, after a 171, erupting in the third game for a season-best 268 that helped her finish with a 675 series.
Lizzy Hildreth started with 211 and 214 in her 579 series, with Morgan Diecuch stepping up to shoot a 438 series that beat out Layla Trendowski’s 435 set. F-M’s Samantha Geiss led her side, shooting 180, 191 and 181 in a 552 series.
When B’ville hosted Liverpool a day later, the girls won again 7-0, but the boys side took a 5-2 defeat to the Warriors.
Games of 201, 188 and 202 gave Hass a 591 series to lead B’ville’s girls as Hildreth closed with a 226 on her way to a 564 set. Diecuch shot a third-game 183 in her 481 series and Ashlee LaVeck had a three-game total of 442.
The boys match had Lell open with a 245 and, with 218 and 181, conclude with a 644 series ahead of Sevigny, whose second-game 224 highlighted a 597 series as Gasiorowski had a 180, 188 and 203 in his 571 series.
B’ville actually had a pinfall of 3,270 to Liverpool’s 3,259, but the Warriors won helped by Ray Rucker’s 634 series (high game 235) and Tanner Gist’s 614 series that had an opening-game 224. Austin Burch added a 595 series for the visitors.
Following the holiday break, B’ville returns to action Jan. 2 against West Genesee at the Sports Bowl before another match with Cicero-North Syracuse Jan. 4 at Strike-N-Spare Lanes.
