SYRACUSE – Both of the Baldwinsville indoor track and field teams will go into the holiday break on win streaks after their sweep of the morning session of Saturday’s George Constantino Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena.
A lively battle on the girls side saw the Bees, with 102 points, fend off Liverpool, with 100 points, along with 18 other teams. It was more lopsided in the boys meet, B’ville grabbing 120.75 points, nearly double the total of Liverpool’s 63.75.
Earning first place in the girls 1,500-meter run, Yolanda Wei went five minutes, 12.19 seconds, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the field as teammate Makayla Fowler, in 5:36.74, finished seventh.
Mariah LeGrow followed by winning the 55-meter hurdles, her 9.89 seconds edging the 9.98 from Cato-Meridian’s Maggie Brown as Adelyn Ameigh-Coggen grabbed eighth place in 10.47 for another crucial point.
In the 4×800 relay, the Bees prevailed with Kamryn Barton, Ella DeFio, Sophia Cavalieri and Brianna Grosso finishing in 10:32.63 to Liverpool’s 10:49.53, a two-point difference in a meet decided by that exact margin.
B’ville also won in field events when Kelsey Dwyer claimed the pole vault by clearing 8 feet 6 inches, with Kate DeFio (7’6”) getting third place.
Barton went 1:41.94 for second place to Liverpool’s Taylor Page (1:39.45) in the 600-meter run, with Nicole Pelletier (1:54.53) just outside the top 10. Julianna Gingrich had a second-place shot put toss of 33 feet 1 ½ inches as Elliot Boak (28’7 1/2”) was sixth.
In the 4×400, the Bees had Grosso, LaGrow, Avamarie Davis and Ella Holtman take second in 4:29.14 to the 4:24.09 from Marcellus.
Running in the 300-meter dash, Emerson Clavijo was fourth in 44.58 seconds, with Davis fifth (44.67) and Brianna Peters sixth (44.83). Clare Horan, in 3:26.16, held off Ella DeFio (3:26.36) for fifth place in the 1,000-meter run.
Natalie Bartkowiak had an eighth-place triple jump of 30’8” and took 10th (12’9 3/4”) in the long jump. Anaiya Johnson took ninth in the 55-meter dash in 7.91 seconds, a personal best, before helping Giavonna Johnson, Raegan Wasiluk and Amerie Williams go 1:59.81 for third place in the 4×200 relay, good for the clinching points ahead of Liverpool in fifth.
On the boys side, B’ville went 1-2-3 in the 1,000, Noah Covert prevailing in 2:36.74 to beat out the 2:38.12 from Paul Clark as Zach Arria got third place in 2:47.18. Clark, Arria and Liam McComber went on to take second in the 4×800 in 9:04.32.
Logan Zapf, in 8.36 seconds, edged out teammate Jackson Creelman (8.40) as the B’ville pair went 1-2 in the 55 hurdles. Zapf would also earn a fourth-place triple jump of 39’7 1/4”, with Wyatt Decker sixth at 38’3”.
Jacob Guelli earned second place in the 3,200-meter run in 10:37.45, with Angelo Sawyers fifth in 11:02.50 and Ethan Millard (12:09.24) in ninth place. Ryan Wilson earned second in the 1,600-meter run, his 4:39.40 beating out Adam Kozman (4:39.73), who settled for third.
Doug Clark, clearing 9’6”, was fourth in the pole vault as Owen Johnson (8’6”) was sixth.Dimitri Ioannidis threw the shot put 41’5 1/2” for fourth place as Gibson Boudov (39’6”) was seventh, Lucas Houghton adding a sixth (39’11”) in the weight throw.
Decker, Cooper Christmas, Rex Kirkegaard and Eoin Burke were fourth in the 4×400 in 3:45.79.Anthony Noda went 6.98 seconds in the 55-meter dash for ninth place. Chris Zellar, Jayce Virginia, Adam Aviles and Evan Andrews were fifth in the 4×200 in a clocking of 1:44.22.
Nate Glidden topped 5’6” for fourth place in the high jump, with Alix Aviles (5’1”) tied for seventh and Declan Pridmore sixth in the long jump with 18’4”. Will Cornell finished eighth in the 600 in 1:33.72, with Joe Saraceni 11th in 1:34.52 as Mason Cavallaro was ninth (40.14 seconds) in the 300.
