CENTRAL NEW YORK – All has fallen into place for the East Syracuse Minoa track and field teams ahead of its most important head-to-head meet of the season.
The Spartans and Jamesville-DeWitt will square off next Wednesday, with both boys and girls sides undefeated after ESM swept this week’s meet against Oswego.
ESM’s boys prevailed 84-57 over the Buccaneers, with two wins apiece from Ryan Sullivan and Andrew LaMarche as, in the 110 high hurdles, Sullivan prevailed in 16.3 seconds and then cleared 5 feet 9 inches in the high jump.
LaMarche swept both throwing events, unleashing a top shot put toss of 47’11” while also heaving the discus 100’7 1/2″ as Luke Mancini added a 10-foot clearance to win the pole vault.
ESM claimed two other sprints, Joe Pedrosa-Garcia going 1:03.3 in the 400-meter hurdles as Aidan Hirt beat the field in the 200-meter dash in 23.9 seconds. Moreno Fenty led Oswego, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.9 along with the triple jump (39’5″) and long jump (19’5 1/2″).
When the girls Spartans beat the Bucs 91-50, Arianna Brennen won twice, clearing 5’2″ in the high jump and going 14’5″ in the long jump as Elise Mancini topped 7 feet in the pole vault and Margaret Mading had a top triple jump of 31’5″.
On the oval, Brennen helped Evanni McDuffie, Anaharie Anderson and Kaleigh Maloof take the 4×100 relay in 54.1 seconds as Akuot Kuany was first in the 100 hurdles in 16.8.
Amber Hayes went 1:12.8 in the 400 hurdles for first place. Rachael Ladd (1,500 meters, 5:34.1) and Rachael Burt (3,000 meters, 12:29.0) swept the longest races as Burt, Bailey Rehm, Jaelyn Jordan and Leah Rehm took the 4×800 in 11:05.5.
