ONONDAGA COUNTY – This Friday night, the boys swimming teams from Jamesville-DeWitt/Christian Brothers Academy and Fayetteville-Manlius will clash at J-D Middle School.
They do so with the Red Rams undefeated after it took on Oswego last Friday night and put together a 96-82 victory over the Buccaneers.
Again leading the way, Nathaniel Wales claimed the 100-yard butterfly in 57.36 seconds with Matt Capella (1:02.40) second after he took the 200 freestyle in 1:51.13.
Misha Kabunov went 2:10.99 to prevail in the 200 individual medley and, later in the meet, helped Wales, Lesha Kabunov and Mark Bratslavsky win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:32.46.
J-D/CBA also went 1-2-3 in diving, Cameron Corona taking the title with 219.55 points to edge Garrett Fuller (208.75) and Sean Rigdon (205.05).
To close the meet, Wales, Bratslavsky, Lesha Kabunov and Luke Marino put up a quick 3:28.93 in the 400 freestyle relay, Marino having already helped Jacob Price, Riley Kim and Jamey Turo go 1:59.33 in the 200 medley relay.
Lesha Kabunov took second in the 50 freestyle in 50 freestyle, with Matt Trivelpiece second in the 100 butterfly, Drew Babikian second in the 100 backstroke and Lucien Zens second in the 100 breaststroke.
F-M also won its lone meet last week, the Hornets taking on Syracuse City last Tuesday at Nottingham High School and rolling to a 94-71 victory.
Leading the way, Max Vidakovic went 2:04.88 in the 200 freestyle as part of a 1-2-3 effort with Ben Mathews (2:08.06) and Anthony Bottar (2:08.39) before edging Syracuse’s Badr Aly, 59.29 seconds to 59.92, in the 100 butterfly.
James Cao, in 2;19.83, pulled away from Eli Kligerman (2:25.88) in the 200 IM, and Cao led another top-three sweep in the 100 freestyle, his 55.13 seconds ahead of Derick Wang’s 57.54 and Mathews’ 57.62.
Carter Page, in 1:01.94, beat the field in the 100 backstroke as Kayen White won the diving event with 162.90 points ahead of Noah Sweet (146.50) and Liam Hartnett-Waere (135.50).
Nathan Walz topped the 500 freestyle in 5:55.23. Bottar was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.31 but paired with Vidakovic, Page and Jack Antshel to go 1:53.33 in the 200 medley relay.
Over in the 200 freestyle relay, Cao, Antshel, Mathews and Wang won in 1:41.86, while in the 400 freestyle relay Vidakovic, Kligerman, Cao and Mathews had a time of 3:50.64.
