SYRACUSE – Boys golf teams at Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool brought their fall seasons to a close, but in a few instances, the chase for glory will continue seven months from now.
C-NS Blue would make a strong push for the Section III Class AA fall title Tuesday at Drumlins Country Club, and beat everyone except a Baldwinsville side no one else could beat this season, either.
The Northstars’ team score of 398 was topped by the Bees’ 382 as the B’ville duo of Aiden Motala (70) and Nate MacGregor (71) would take individual honors, too.
Drew Kippen and Jack Wolanski were right behind them, the C-NS Blue teammates each shooting 75 to tie for third place in a large, crowded field where Sean Lawler, with a 78, tied for seventh place.
Kaeden Hacker shot an 85 as part of a large tie for 15th place, while Nate Bustin finished with an 87.
Meanwhile, Liverpool shot 413 to finish fifth, just behind Fayetteville-Manlius Green (404) and third-place West Genesee Gold, who had 402.
Joe Sacco led the Warriors, getting a tie for ninth place with a 79, while Dom Osbeck had an 80 to share 11th place.
With those two scores, Sacco and Osbeck joined Kippen, Wolanski and Lawler in advancing to May’s Section III state qualifying tournament, where fall golfers join those who have spring seasons.
Carter Costello had an 89 for C-NS Blue as David Schmidt shot 91. For C-NS Green, Kyle Kulikowski and Ethan Matthews led the way, each shooting 96 as Gavin Nichols put up 100.
Behind Sacco and Osbeck, Liverpool had Owen Michaud shoot an 82, right at the state qualifier cut line. Bradley Cole shot 84, with Owen Salanger getting an 87 as Alex Kirkby and Brady Michaud each posting 88.
