ONONDAGA COUNTY – Neither the Cicero-North Syracuse nor Liverpool girls tennis teams would find themselves as part of the seven-team Section III Class A tournament that would take place this week.
Weather had twice postponed the second match between the two rivals last week, but C-NS would play on Thursday against West Genesee and take a 4-3 defeat to the Wildcats.
Madelyn Shaw and Addyson Fedele lost their singles matches in straight sets, but Ava Schiff overcame an early deficit to beat WG’s Hannah Sparks 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Megan Meives and Lily Misco paired up for a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ava Amodio and Kailyn Drury, with Eve Campalieto and Golden Duru falling to Angelina Allen and Margaret Mello 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) as Lauren Malec and Andrea Iqabi lost 6-4, 6-3 to Nicole Vasilev and Annemarie Myers.
As for Liverpool, it met with East Syracuse Minoa in a non-league match on Friday afternoon and took a 5-2 defeat to the Spartans.
Angelica Underwood won 6-0, 6-3 over Brooke Kirkpatrick, with Olivia Magnarelli handling Sophie Jones 6-1, 6-2. But Jasmine Rawda lost 6-3, 6-2 to Adrianna Byrd, and the teams of Bianca Vaccaro-Christy Bui, Emma Fenwick-Angela Morgans, Chloe Musengo-Lydia Breckheimer and Hailey Jaquin-Isabella Turck all lost, too.
