ONONDAGA COUNTY – All of that snow that fell last Tuesday brought a halt to spring sports, including girls golf, where Liverpool had split a pair of season-opening matches.
Both of the Cicero-North Syracuse sides were able to compete at Northern Pines last Monday afternoon, with the Blue side scoring 137 and the Green Side finishing with 189.
Jessica Ricciardi shot a 32 for nine holes, beating out the 33 from teammate Isabella Borte. Andrea Wheaton finished with a 35 as Josie Gabriell picked up a 37.
For C-NS Green, Lindsay Kubala shot the low round of 46. Haley Swenton finished with a 50 as Mya Ashkar had a 51 and Lauren Sisk picked up a 52.
Then C-NS Green played again on Friday, against Baldwinsville, and took a 227-262 defeat to the Bees. Kubala and Ashkar both shot 62, but four B’ville players topped that total, led by Anna Falcone’s 51.
Moving to boys tennis, Cicero-North Syracuse will get its chance to upend rival Liverpool when the two sides meet on Wednesday afternoon, weather permitting.
With the Warriors resting following its April 12 win over West Genesee, the Northstars got its season underway last Friday after the postponement of a match against Central Square.
Taking on East Syracuse Minoa, C-NS had little trouble earning a 6-1 victory over the Spartans, with all of the points earned in straight-set decisions.
Sweeping the doubles, C-NS had Daniel Jordan and Brady Petranchuk get a 6-2 6-1 decision over Jayce Domres and Krish Patel, with Joe DeGroat and Tim Mai beating Jacob Harmon and Joe Leveroni 6-3, 6-2.
Keeping this up, the Northstars had Pete Gill and Ryan Keil win over Jacob McGuigan and Luke Tumulty 6-1, 6-2, while Alex Cao and Andrew George shut out Cater Jacobs and Ayush Patel 6-0, 6-0.
Up in singles, Brandon Nguyen took a 6-3, 6-4 defeat to Noah Satterlee, but in first singles Wyatt Dupell beat Jack Satterlee 6-0, 6-2 and Matt Jordan rolled past Josh Spilka 6-3, 6-0.
