SYRACUSE – Area high school track and field teams all made the short trip to Westhill Tuesday to take part in the Warriors’ annual Spring Break Invitational, with several of them picking up victories.
The host Warriors got going when Ashley Bolesh won the invitational girls 400-meter dash in 58.30 seconds, edging Cicero-North Syracuse star Kate Putman (58.75) for that top spot.
Angie Mesa-Espinosa, fourth in the 400 (1:01.55), beat everyone in the 200-meter dash in 26.32 seconds. Jules Bleskoski got third place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:55.95, with Molly Thompson seventh and Mallie Alt eighth in the 200 hurdles.
Jordan-Elbridge had one of the meet’s standouts in Vassiana Klock, who won twice on the girls side, including the 2,000-meter steeplechase, where in 7:19.01 she beat runner-up Katie Edinger (Tully) by more than 43 seconds.
Later in the meet, in the 800-meter run, Klock claimed a second race, her time of 2:17.41 nearly nine seconds clear of CBA’s Grace Fletcher (2:26.30).
West Genesee had a victory from Alexcis Rydelek, who in the discus heaved it 92 feet 4 inches. No one else had a throw greater than Clinton’s Jenna Deep, who went 84’2”. ‘
Rydelek was also fourth in the shot put with 29’9 ½” as Solvay’s Emily Rolince was fifth in the discus with 74’8”. Grace McInerney cleared 4’10” in the high jump to finish third as Westhill’s Mary Kate Rewakowski tied for sixth to go with a sixth in the pole vault.
WG also was third in the girls 3×100 shuttle hurdles behind Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool, with Chloe Fietze fifth in the 1,500 in 5:10.69 and the Wildcats fourth in the 4×400 relay in 4:29.92. Andrea Conklin was fifth in the 800 in 2:35.91.
Chris Moser, in 11.36 seconds, beat out teammate Bryce Bort (11.46) for third place in the boys 100-meter dash, while Bort was third in the triple jump with 38’4”. Alex Puchta was fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:49.84 and Bryan Reichert was seventh in the 200 hurdles.
Skaneateles had Will Feeney finish fifth in the shot put with a throw of 39’6 ¼”, while Max Paciorek had a seventh-place long jump of 19’1”. Lillian Coleman took fifth in the steeplechase (8:42.14) behind Klock.
Westhill’s boys team had Brandon Mulholland take fourth place in the 800-meter run in 2:02.70 as teammate Brian Kenny finished eighth. Alex Cassick had the top finish for Jordan-Elbridge’s boys team, with a fifth-place discus throw of 95’8”.
