CENTRAL NEW YORK – Not only did each of the Baldwinsville lacrosse teams put together impressive victories to improve their respective marks to 2-0, the boys did so with a shutout.
Managing to go 48 minutes without surrendering a single goal, the boys Bees knocked off Canandaigua last Saturday by a score of 6-0, and it wasn’t just about defense.
Ten times B’ville and Canandaigua conducted face-offs, and every one of them was claimed by Jacob Czyz, allowing the Bees long stretches of possession.
Though the offense didn’t always convert, Carson Dyl, Ryan Hollenbeck and Leo Johnson each would score twice, with Dylan Wirtheim and Ryan Quinn joining Dyl in the assist column.
Protected well by the Bees’ stellar back line, goalies Mason Clark and Nick Cleary only had to face seven direct Canandaigua shots – and stopped all of them.
Activity picks up for B’ville this week with three games in five days, all against local foes – Cicero-North Syracuse, West Genesee and East Syracuse Minoa.
It’s the same for B’ville’s girls team, who has its long-awaited rematch of the overtime loss to C-NS in last June’s sectional Class A final Tuesday at Bragman Stadium.
The final tune-up for it was Saturday’s game against Marcellus, which was a close one for a long while before the Bees outscored the Mustangs 10-2 in the second half on the way to a 14-5 victory.
Carlie Desimone, with five goals, matched the entire Marcellus output while adding a pair of assists as Sophia Muscolino was just as productive, with three goals and four assists.
Grace Hollenbeck and Mia Pozzi each scored twice, with Sara Hunter and Sierra Natoli netting single goals. Emma Hollenbeck had two assists and Sophia Ianno got a single assist.
