SYRACUSE – Helped by Vassianna Klock’s sweep of three distance races, the Jordan-Elbridge girls indoor track and field team finished second to Cato-Meridian (99) in last Wednesday’s Onondaga High School League Division II championships.
Klock first won for the Eagles in the 3,000-meter run, going 11 minutes, 10.20 seconds as Ella Jewsbury was fifth. Then Klock won the 1,000-meter run in 3:12.23, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the field.
To cap off her incredible night, Klock gained first place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:58.51, with no one else even breaking the 5:20 mark.
Tatianna Parkolap again won in the high jump, clearing 4 feet 8 inches as Parkolap also finished sixth in the long jump. In the 4×400 relay, J-E won as Olivia Bennett, Ella Bender, Teagan Disinger and Kyra Dominick posted 5:00.36.
Bennett earned fourth place in the 600-meter run in 2:03.20, while Dominck was fifth in the 55-meter dash in 8.20 seconds, with Bender (8.24) sixth. Disinger was fourth and Parkolap fifth in the 55 hurdles. Mia Kotlarz finished fifth in the shot put.
J-E’s boys team had Peyton Bates finish third in the 3,200-meter run in 11:26.87, while Alex Kunz was third in the 1,6000 in 5:04.90. Roanan Ross was fourth in the shot put, with Porter Ross fifth as Ayden Campion took sixth place in the triple jump.
Bishop Ludden saw its girls 4×200 relay team of Alexi Sheen, Ally Kerwin, Clare Ruddy and Annie Gaughan win in 2:04.67 to Cato’s 2:04.98 as J-E was third in 2:05.93.
On her own, Sheen took third in the girls 55 hurdles in 11.09 seconds, with Ally Kerwin fifth and Clare Ruddy sixth in the 300.
Moving to the boys side, Ludden saw Isaiah Patterson take second in the 300 in 40.80 seconds and third in the 55 sprint in 7.21 seconds, adding a fourth in the high jump (5’2” while Blake Sheen was fifth in the 600.
A day later, in the SCAC Metro division meet, West Genesee earned 55.5 points on the boys side to finish fifth as the girls Wildcats had a fourth-place total of 45.5 points.
WG’s boys got two relay wins. In the 4×800, Peter McMahon, Aidan Walsh, Casey Comny and Kevin Moser paired up to go 8:32.11, beating the second-place 8:34.18 from Fayetteville-Manlius.
Then, to close the meet, Dom Burris, Payton Manipole and Bryce Bort joined Moser as the Wildcats finished in 1:34.25 to runner-up Baldwinsville’s 1:35.80.
Burris didn’t stop there, also winning the long jump with a leap of 20’9” as Bort was fifth. Manipole, Bort, Chris Moser and Anthony Edgar were second (3:36.11) to Baldwinsville (3:33.56) in the 4×400.
Burris, in 6.67 seconds, was second to B’ville’s Sam Mellinger (6.54) in the 55 sprint as Kev Scott was sixth to go with a sixth-place finish in the 300. Kevin Moser went 1:31.95 for fourth place in the 600 as Walsh got sixth place in the 1,000/
On the girls side, WG’s Vivian Youmans won the weight throw by going 30’3 1/4” as teammate Annissa Lee was second with 29’2”. Alexcix Rydelek nearly won the shot put, her 27’4 3/4” half an inch behind the 27’5 1/4” from Fayetteville-Manlius’ Bella Pierie.
Natalie Keiling and Mya Rufus both posted 7.88 seconds in the 55 sprint to take fifth and sixth, respectively, as Trinity Brumfeld took sixth place in the 300.
Zoe Maupin was fifth in the 1,500 as Peyton Long finished sixth in the 3,000 and Karolina Lata was sixth in the 1,000. Long, Lata, Claire Griffin and Chloe Feitze were third in the 4×800 in 10:39.92, with theWildcats fifth in the 4×400 and 4×200. Grace McNerney tied for fifth in the high jump.
